Fort Worth Opera performs for elementary schools

It’s not every day that the Fort Worth Opera comes to town. But on February 13, Commerce ISD elementary students received a rare treat as singers and a pianist performed “Carmenella,” a show based on the story of Cinderella with melodies from the opera “Carmen.” Funds for the performance were provided by the Commerce Schools Educational Enrichment Foundation through a grant proposal by Angela Neal, elementary music teacher.

At left, the Prince is smitten with Carmenella at the Royal Bull Fight.
Carmenella's ugly stepsisters boast of the fun they will have with the friends in the gang.
CES students enjoyed the performance and the trip on the bus to Commerce Middle School.

ACW students gave rounds of applause and shouted "Bravo" during the performance.
