Four inducted into CISD Hall of Honor

Two former students, a former teacher and a former student who became a teacher were inducted into the CISD Hall of Honor on October 25. The day began with a reception for family and friends at the CISD Administration Building for Myra Beadles, Dan Farell, Billie Garrett and Mary Spencer. Lunch was served by CHS cheerleaders while the CHS Jazz Band provided entertainment. The invocation was given by the Reverend Larry Dixon of St. Moriah Temple Baptist Church. Board President Willie Blow welcomed guests to the fourth annual Hall of Honor induction ceremony.

Superintendent Blake Cooper explained how the Hall of Honor came to be and how the District has established the tradition of honoring the past and the people who contributed to the District's great heritage. Inductees were introduced by CHS Principal David Welch. Each honoree spoke about what CHS and Commerce meant to them and the people who helped them along the way.

Inductees attended the CHS pep rally and the CHS vs Howe football game Friday night where they were honorary captains participating in the coin toss. It was a great day for Commerce ISD and an honor to bestow gratitude to those who have given so much and others who took their beginnings here and accomplished great things throughout their lives.
